Simple and Spicy Chipotle Ketchup Recipe

Spicy Chipotle Ketchup Recipe

This simple kicked up ketchup recipe hits all the taste high notes!

Salty, check.

Sweet, check .

Smokey, check.

Spicy, check.

I can make a whole meal out of a nice big  mound of home-made kettle chips served with a side of this ketchup recipe to dip them in. Well, the chips and maybe a steak thrown in for good measure, I am a growing boy after all.

It is so super easy to make and really jazz’s up a regular burger and fries, or you can try one of my favorite uses and glaze the top of a meatloaf with it.

One small word of advice, make sure you wash your hands well after handling the chipotle peppers, they are quite potent, and you will definitely know if you get them on you somewhere they shouldnt be, but by the time you realize it, it’s too  late.

Spicy Chipotle Ketchup Ingredients

  • 1/2 Tbl finely minced chipotle in Adobo sauce
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1/8 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1/4 tsp  Garlic Powder

Spicy Chipotle Ketchup Directions

  1. Finely mince the chipotle pepper
  2. Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
  3. Done.

The ketchup can be held for up to a week in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. The smokey flavor and heat of the chipotle gets stronger after resting for a few hours, I usually make this at least a few hours before I eat it to give the flavors a chance to bloom. The amount of chipotle can be adjusted to your personal tolerance level, with the 1/2 tablespoon you should know it’s in there, but it won’t be overpowering. If you have something to prove, or have lost the feeling in your mouth for some odd reason, by all means add more.

I suggest  serving this wonderful delicacy along with  these Onion rings.
